Hazardous Waste Collection Day will take place Saturday, October 18, at Lowe's Home Improvement, Cape Carteret.

This fishing tournament is sponsored by Emerald Isle Parks and Rec and The Reel Outdoors. It will run from October 18 to November 29. Registration is FREE. Pre-registration is required and the deadline is Wednesday, October 15 at 5:30 pm. All trout must be caught on foot(surf, pier, inlet, sound) from Fort Macon to Emerald Isle. NO BOATS. The Wednesday Painting Party made up of 20 artists who get together on Wednesdays from 1-3 at the Emerald Isle Parks & Rec Center's Lounge to paint invite you to come and see their work in all mediums, subject matters, styles and techniques throughout the month of October. A reception will be held with a free art "give-away" on Friday, October 10 from 5-8 pm.

Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation,7500 Emerald Drive, will sponsor "The Spiderwick Chronicles" (rated PG) on Friday, October 10. Admission is free. All children must be accompanied by an adult. $1 for popcorn and a drink. No outside food or beverage permitted.
