All Quiet on the White Oak

It is Christmas Eve, and our children have made it to the coast from Northern Virginia.  The water is quiet by the dock, and even the Big  Blue Heron has been respectfully silent this evening.

It is nice to have some company along the coast during the holidays.

At times it seems that everyone has left for the city this holiday season.  Emerald Isle seems deserted.  There was no challenge finding a parking place at Ace Hardware for my last minute shopping.

The only busy places that I saw today were Walgreen's and Lowe's Foods.

This morning I drove over to Swansboro and picked up another crabpot Christmas tree.  We now have indoor and outdoor versions.  I put some ornaments on the new indoor tree this afternoon.  My wife was doubtful how it might look, but she ended up liking the results.

We managed to make it to the Christmas Eve communion at Cape Carteret Presbyterian which is our regular church. The service was a fitting start to our holiday celebration.

Though we did not plan to stock up before our "snow storm," we managed to bring in enough food to get us through the next few days.  I will be happy to just watch the cold damp weather from the inside of our home.

If we get a little snow, it certainly will not be something that we haven't seen before.  It will add a nice touch of frosting to the holiday season.

With two of our three children here, I think we will have a great Christmas.  We will look forward to catching up with the other one sometime when the weather is better and the roads are not so busy.

Merry Christmas to everyone.
