Last week was a perfect practice week for the 4th of July. There was no danger of needing anything but shorts at the beach. Most days we were close to ninety degrees. I think we even got over that figure a couple of days.
It was hard for me to keep track of land temperatures since I spent so much time on the water. Being on the water is almost always a good prescription for reducing the amount of heat you have to face.
If you are anchored out near Bogue Inlet, there is almost always a great breeze, and if you get too hot, you can always jump in the water. The water and weather were so great last week, that it was a fine time to fall in love with the area.
This week looks to be shaping up for the same kind of weather. The only difference is that there will be more people out on the water. For the next few weeks, my trips on the water and into the water will like be early in the morning or late in the evening.
Those are the best times anyway. I love the quiet morning waters.
Last week we also managed to have a seafood feast a day since we had company. Company came with a baby so we cooked at home. One night was fresh shrimp cocktail, then there was fried flounder, grilled scallops, crab cakes, and shrimp and grits.
This week we temperatures regularly touching ninety got me to mow my yard in the evening and do my other yard work early in the morning. I hope we have great crowds this weekend.
I am looking forward to watching some fireworks. Considering the potential traffic, maybe we should watch by boat.
