Rainy weather moves through the area

It seems like we have been on a weather carousel which lets us choose only cold weather or warm and wet weather.  I snapped the foggy night picture in Swansboro on Wednesday evening.

I would be a lot happier if we could just get back to warm and sunny.  Today we got something over an inch of rain which comes just after some cold weather.  At least it was warm, even if it was wet.

We made it to the mid-sixties which is much better for mid-December than some other places that I have lived.  Still it was rainy and foggy when I would have preferred sunny and warm.

Between the showers, we had the holiday party for our real estate firm.  This year we did a potluck brunch which worked out great.  There was enough good food there that I did not need anything until this evening.  It was a nice diversion on a damp day.

With the rain continuing off and on all day, my wife was getting a case of cabin fever so we headed out to do an errand just before dark.  We ended up deciding that maybe having dinner out would be more fun than cooking.

We did not want to spend a lot of money, but we also wanted to avoid fast food.  We decided to head over to Chowdaheads in Emerald Isle.  It was a pretty good evening for some comfort food

As we were driving through town we noticed that Dairy Queen, Jordan's, and Ballyhoo's all seemed to be closed.

Once we had ordered, we figured it out.  Bogue Banks Water had issued a boil your water advisory.  Chowdaheads had gone to the trouble to get bagged ice and drinks in bottles so they could continue serving food.

Since we were looking for Coastal comfort food we ordered grouper sandwiches and some of their homemade potato chips or Chowda fries as they call them.

We had a good meal, and the restaurant to ourselves.

I try to write things which give a feeling for the area, but it is hard to convey a rainy day in a photo, so I did a short damp video on YouTube that will serve as a pretty good substitute for standing out in the rain here today.

We are looking forward to sunshine and cooler temperatures for the Emerald Isle Christmas parade this Saturday afternoon.

Next week they are promising us five days in a row with sun and temperatures in the mid-sixties.  I am counting on that.  I might go chasing some trout.

Next week is also the deadline for donations to Toys for Tots.  We would love some more donations at our Bluewater GMAC Real Estate office just between Lowe's Home Improvement and the White Oak Elementary School.

I have Friday afternoon, December 12, duty so I'll be glad to say hi to anyone who drops by with a toy.
